A journey through time of the Chow Chow within Southern Africa

Introduction

It is with grateful thanks to the ladies in the KUSA (Kennel Union of Southern Africa) office who looked after me while I went through the archives, Carol Immelman who loaned me her boxes of gazettes and magazines as well as the many Chowists from the past and present who assisted with information.

The information within this book has been cross- verified and where information has been passed down by word of mouth, it is fortunate to be able to compare this to the official gazettes.

Written information collated over the years has been compared to at least two sources.

While I know that this information is by no means complete and I am quite sure there will be inaccuracies in some people’s opinions – but it comes from the only reliable sources available and for that reason I believe it to be mostly correct.
